Arena Hotel Amsterdam

Hotel Arena knows a rich history. Our building is already more than a hundred years old. In 1890 the complex was built as a Roman-Catholic orphanage. This Saint Elizabeth asylum had this function until the fifties.

In 1982 the municipality of Amsterdam decided to open a Sleep-in in the building. In this way the great request for low budget-accommodations could be answered. During this period the Sleep-in also unfold itself into a well-known popstage.

Many great bands such as Iggy Pop, Status Quo and Marilyn Manson were on the stage. After drastic reconstruction, in which the restaurant and cafe were taken in use, Arena opened her doors.

Since 1998 Hotel Arena is the name of our company. By now we have grown into a large scale three star hotel. Our guests spend the night in stylishly decorated rooms where once the large dormitories of the orphanage were located. The former chapel with its classic features is now being used to provide Amsterdam with a beautiful place to dance, drink and be seen.
